Structure of the studies

The master study program in Chemical Engineering (M.Sc.) offers the opportunity for further scientific specialisation in the fields of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Processing:

Applied chemistry:

  • Compulsory modules: Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, Advanced Organic Chemistry, Advanced Physical Chemistry
  • Elective modules: i.a. Nanotechnology, Incoherent Light Sources, Organic Electrochemistry

Chemical processing:

  • Compulsory modules: Heat and Mass Transfer, Unit Operations, Chemical Reaction Engineering
  • Elective modules: i.a. Process Design, Adsorption Technology, Environmental Engineering, Bioprocessing Technology

In addition, some optional compulsory modules are available for both specialisations: i.a. Technology of Coatings, Chemical Technology of Materials, Project Management, Statistical Analysis of Measurement Data, Meshing.

Additional to the modules

Additional to the modules consisting of lectures, exercises and associated lab experiments, three project theses (literature project, methods project, research project) have to be performed within the first three semesters. In the fourth semester, the studies will be completed by a master thesis of five month duration. Successful graduation from the master study program qualifies the graduate for tasks in research and development. Pursuit of a doctorate (PhD) is possible.
