Information for first-year students Bachleor
Cordially welcome at the Department of Chemical Engineering!
Surely you will have a lot of questions regarding your studies, and on the department in particular.
The most important information first: After your enrolment, all e-mails sent by us will be addressed to your FH-ID! Therefore, you either check your account regularly or have them forwarded to your private e-mail account automatically (see "MyFH-Portal 2.0").
You should definitely participate in the welcoming event in lecture hall S2 (25th of September 2019, 09:30 a.m). Essential introductory information on your studies and the Department of Chemical engineering will be communicated there.
Subsequently, some important events for beginners will follow. To be permitted to the laboratories, guidelines for fire protection and basic instructions on handling hazardous substances and their disposal have to be received (compulsory!).
A first aid course will be provided on September, 26., 2019, at 13:00 p.m. (exact date not available yet). Knowledge acquired from previous first aid courses must not be older than one year. For details see "Events for freshers".
The Department Chemical Engineering has arranged a small overview brochure, which contains information on all labs during your studies and the corresponding contact persons.

"Rechenbrücke" (Math pre-course)
The "Rechenbrücke" is an interdisciplinary project at the Steinfurt campus, organized by the Departments of Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Energy×Building Sevices×Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Engineering and the Institute for Technical Business Management.
The aim of the project is to ease the students' start into their respective study programs and to improve their chances to graduate successfully. For this purpose, different support offers are made to tackle problems, with mathematics in particular.
