Information on the degree program

Goals
The Master's degree course in Energy Technologies will enable you to transform our energy supply. You will understand the energy markets and gain an overview of networked energy systems and their components and interactions. With in-depth specialist knowledge and scientific methodological skills, you will actively contribute to building up know-how in your company, work conceptually and think beyond the normative approach.

Occupational fields
Our Master's graduates

· manage large projects at energy suppliers or grid operators,
· integrate components for system providers,
· design energy supply concepts for municipalities or companies,
· develop concepts and models in research institutions
· or scenarios in authorities, ministries or for the EU.

Career
The Master's degree in Energy Technologies (M.Eng.) enables you to pursue a career in the higher civil service in Germany and is a formal prerequisite for a doctorate.

Specialization Technical Management
You also have the opportunity to choose the specialization "Technical Management". To do this, you must take and successfully complete a total of six elective modules, which are marked with "TM" in the list of elective modules. The "Technical Management" specialization and the associated modules will then be shown separately on your degree certificate.


Study program

The study program will be held in German.
The course can be started in the summer or winter semester. It is divided into three or five semesters of study (full-time or part-time) and one semester for the Master's thesis.
Lectures take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (planned).

Study prerequisites

Bachelor's or diploma degree
You must have a first professionally qualifying university degree in a technical, engineering or predominantly engineering degree program in the field of energy technologies, building technologies or environmental technologies or related fields with an overall grade of at least "good" (2.5).

Proof of practical experience
You need proof of practical work (practical phase) of at least 12 weeks' duration, which has already familiarized you with relevant technical tasks. This proof can also come from the practical phase of your Bachelor's or Diplom degree course or from a previous professional activity.

Application

You can apply from November 14 for the upcoming summer semester 2024.
You can apply for a study place even if you do not yet have your Bachelor's degree certificate.
If you start your studies in the summer semester, you must provide proof of your Bachelor's grade by April 30.
If you start your studies in the winter semester, you must provide proof of your Bachelor's grade by November 30.
