Living in Steinfurt
The city of Steinfurt is located in the picturesque Münsterland region, about 31 km northwest of Münster (Westphalia) and has about 33.500 inhabitants. Steinfurt is not only a district town, resort and university town, but also an attractive place to live and work. After the cramming, the students relax and recover on one of the numerous green areas of Steinfurt, such as the Bagno, which was built in the 18th century as a pleasure garden and exotic garden landscape and is today the most popular recreation area for the inhabitants. In the historic city centre of Burgsteinfurt, listed buildings lend the city a unique flair. There you can end the day in a cosy way in one of the pubs or restaurants. Students are pleased about another feature of the city: the rent index of 6.7 Euro/m² on average allows affordable living space.
And if you do want to head for the big city, you can benefit from the good connections to Münster. Within 40 minutes from Burgsteinfurt railway station you can reach the centre of Münster. You can also stay mobile with your semester ticket: you can use buses, trams, city trains, underground trains and local rail passenger trains (SPNV) free of charge throughout North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition, the journey to Enschede is included in the semester ticket.
