What are the advantages of the dual study programme? Here we have compiled general information for companies.
What are the advantages of the dual study programme?
Skilled workers and managers who are professionally and academically well educated, who know the company excellently and at the same time are able to think and act with foresight represent a decisive competitive advantage.
Finding such employees will become increasingly difficult in the future due to demographic developments and is therefore one of the key success factors for companies. Through the dual study programme, you gain well-trained, flexible and performance-oriented employees and bind them to your company at an early stage.
The practical shock of starting a career is eliminated. The employees already get to know the company during their studies and can be deployed immediately after graduation. This eliminates the need for time-consuming and costly induction training.
Our experience shows that these engineers have a high degree of loyalty to the company they are trained in and that a departure of skilled workers is avoided.
What is the course of study?
In the first year, students do a "normal apprenticeship" in the training company. In principle, compulsory vocational schooling is not required, but attendance at a vocational school is recommended. The programme is coordinated with the vocational colleges.
The actual studies do not begin until the second year. In the first three semesters, there is one day of vocational school in addition to four days of study; in-company training takes place during the semester break. At the end of the third semester, the dual students take the final examination at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
In the further course of their studies, they are expected to work in the company during the semester break. The sixth semester consists of the practical phase and the Bachelor's thesis, which are also completed in the company.

What is the application procedure?
Similar to a classic apprenticeship, the students apply for the dual training position with you. You select the dual students and conclude a training contract and a framework contract with them. In this agreement, it is agreed that the students will receive a training or trainee allowance for the entire four years. You register the students at Münster UAS, where they subsequently enrol.
The prerequisite for enrolment is proof of the Fachhochschulreife (academic and practical part), the general higher education entrance qualification or the subject-related higher education entrance qualification.
What are the costs?
The costs for you are the normal training allowance until the final examination. Afterwards, a traineeship salary is typically paid, which is often the same as the training salary.
Tuition fees are not currently charged. Only the usual semester contribution must be paid. Companies often take over the payment of the semester fee.
