Amateur radio

Are you enthusiastic about amateur radio? Then you've come to the right place! In the practice-oriented bachelor's and master's degree programs of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, you can actively work on projects in the field of amateur radio as early as after the second semester.

Example of a project in the bachelor's degree program:

Weather balloon

In Germany, several weather balloons are launched every day. From the data obtained, weather services then calculate the weather forecast, for example, or pass on their data to aviation authorities or even the German armed forces. The probes attached to the balloons can be used to measure parameters such as air pressure, temperature and humidity. The idea of our weather balloon was now also to collect weather data, but additionally to film the flight of the balloon and then also to send these recorded images directly to earth. We were interested in the question of how it would look at an altitude of 25 km or even 35 km and whether we could send live images to Earth with relatively little technical and financial effort.
