The project

Within the framework of the transformation of Münster University of Applied Sciences, new methodological and didactic approaches to teaching are to be found by summer 2019, which will be written down in the curriculum of the Bachelor's and Master's degree program.
On the one hand, it is to be examined how the MSA can respond to the coming digitalization of the world of architecture and promote the already prevailing diversity in teaching and culture even more strongly. On the other hand, however, the architectural self-image and an "expanded concept of architecture" will also be discussed, and prevailing structures and concepts in the Bachelor's and Master's programs will be questioned and, if necessary, redesigned.
A discussion platform in the form of regular workshops was created for these goals. Until the end of the project, a workshop is to be initiated every semester in which the above-mentioned questions can be discussed and possible solutions can be developed under the supervision of a moderator. These should be made up of a representative selection of students, staff and lecturers in order to ensure a democratic and transparent process. In addition, lectures by internal and external speakers will broaden the view of architectural theory.
At the end of the project, a report is to be produced in which the initial situation of teaching is documented and the approaches newly formulated in the workshops are to be identified. This report will serve as a guiding basis for the implementation of the following changes at MSA.
The project team acts on behalf of the dean's office, which initiated the process in advance and is supported by the Wandelwerk of Münster University of Applied Sciences.
