"Oh my God!  […]  There's the Earth coming up. Wow, that's pretty."

Astronaut William Anders's spontaneous enthusiastic reaction on December 24, 1968 during the Apollo 8 mission led to one of the most influential photographs ever taken. Showing the Earth as a beautiful, vulnerable and seemingly self-contained system from far beyond its boundaries inspired environmental movements around the globe.

In 2021 at the 1st deans' summit of the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE),"The Oslo Pledge" was proposed, determining the climate crisis as the by far most crucial framing of academic responsibility in the fields of architecture and planning. With this in the mind, the MSA is hosting a four-day event from 28 - 31 August 2024, with invited speakers giving talks on the topic:

- Niko Paech, University of Siegen, GE
- Andrea Klinge, Eike Roswag, ZRS Architects and Engineers, Berlin, GE
- Dorte Mandrup, Dorte Mandrup A/SCopenhagen, DK
- Till Gröner, Supertecture, Kaufbeuren, GE
- Werner Sobek, Werner Sobek AG, Stuttgart, GE

In this context, the MSA is organising the call for papers LESS IS MUST. We are looking for contributions on seven topics. The call is linked below as a PDF. Submissions in English are welcome until 30 April 2024. The MSA is looking forward to a lively debate and exchange.
