Application Master of Arts

Master of Arts in »Information and Communication«

Information concerning your application for the assessment procedure for conceptual and artistic aptitude for the Master degree programme »Information and Communication« at Münster University of Applied Sciences

Bis zum 31. März eines Jahres bewerben und jeweils zum WISE mit dem Studium beginnen.

The consecutive Master degree programme "Information and Communication" is application- oriented. The full-time study programme takes four semesters and comprises 120 credit points. Graduates are awarded the academic degree »Master of Arts« (M.A.).

The idea and orientation of the study programme refers to a global social development in which information and its means of communication are of central social, cultural and economic importance.

Studies are organised as an interdisciplinary, open-system platform. Here, students work on problems regarding the transfer of information and knowledge in a research-based manner; they solve complex communication tasks and focus on sophisticated product development.

Theory subjects, such as »Scientific Working Methods«, »Theories of Perception, Communication and the Media« and »Management Methods« are learned and applied here. Subject-related projects are supported and accompanied by »Subject-Related Theories and Methods« and »Realisation Methods«.

The »Orientation Project« module in the first semester helps to determine the students' individual level of performance. Students become acquainted with and explore a wide range of technical and media methods, which are tested experimentally. The aim of the "Master Subject Proposal" module is to methodically challenge the intended subject for the Master thesis and to assess its potential with regard to content and design; in addition, the problem formulation and timeline are set out in the proposal. Subject-Related Projects A and B in the second and third semesters are theory-oriented units closely related to the Master thesis. In these projects, the course is set for the specialist and media orientation of students' further procedural methods. The results and findings are consolidated, docu- mented and presented in the Master thesis as a final theoretical, organisational, artistic and technical entity.

Graduates of the Master degree programme are employed in job-related key positions as executives in design companies and agencies, in design departments of enterprises, in editorial offices of newspapers, magazines and television broadcasting companies, film and video productions, book publishing houses, all kinds of museums, scientific and research institutes, in product development, at higher education institutions, vocational training and further education institutions or as freelancers in their own companies.
