The development of nanoparticle-based diagnostics and contrast agents for use in patients is the focus of the Center's R&D activities. All methods, techniques and devices required for this are already established, starting with the cloning through fully automated screening, protein expression, production and purification of specific ligands as well as their biochemical and microcalorimetric characterization. The use of the manufactured optical contrast agents in tumor cell lines and their confocal microscopic and FACS analysis to exact specifications is also possible. Appropriate analytical methods for the detection of fluorescent nanoparticles in biological tissues are currently being established.
