Under the guiding theme "Shaping change responsibly and with an eye to the future", we, the Department of Health, recognise the new challenges facing the health system and are determined to make our contribution.

The VUCA world (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) aptly describes the dimensions of this change and illustrates the importance of this world for the health system. Demographic change is leading to a changing spectrum of diseases, an increase in chronic and multimorbid conditions, and a growing shortage of skilled workers. This requires profound and sustainable changes from the health system.

In order to meet the complex and ambiguous requirements, to cope with uncertainties and to be able to react to changes, extended (inter)professional competences are required, which are specifically developed in the students by our teachers.

The academisation and professionalisation of the health professions have been part of the discussion for a long time. We would like to continue to make an active contribution to professionalisation in the future by developing and continuously improving attractive and sustainable educational programmes.

The development towards a VUCA world poses the challenge for our department not only to continue the previous growth, but to shape it strategically. In the field of education, this means critically rethinking existing offers, creating synergies and developing appropriate and innovative educational offers. In research, we want to use the expertise of our diverse colleagues to expand existing (interdisciplinary) research activities and promote scientific dialogue.

The increasing complexity of health care is reflected in our department in a variety of study programmes in the fields of nursing, therapy, management and teacher education. This diversity also extends to the diversity of students, ranging from high school graduates to experienced professional practitioners. We see this as an enormous potential, which is also reflected in the diversity of our teaching staff, who bring different personal and professional backgrounds with them. This results in new creative possibilities in research and teaching. Our goal is to use this diversity to learn from each other - both between students and teachers and between the two groups.

The examination of digitalisation has also experienced an unexpected dynamic here at the Department of Health. We are looking at both the digitalisation of healthcare and digitalisation in teaching. We are confident that we can successfully meet the demands placed on us and make a valuable contribution to the further development of Münster UAS and healthcare in Germany.

We would like to continue to make an active contribution to the professionalisation of the health care professions in the future - for patient- and family-oriented, effective, financially viable and future-oriented health care, both for patients and for employees!
