Only 15 personalities have been awarded the title "honorary professor" in the history of FH Münster University of Applied Sciences since 1971. The hurdles to be overcome are high. According to the law on higher education, the qualification of a honorary professor must correspond to that of a full-time professor.

In addition to the professional aptitude, at least five years of teaching and the corresponding pedagogical qualifications are required. FH Münster awards the title only to people who practically and ideally mean added value for the university.
