Lecture at the kick-off event celebrating the foundation of the institue network in June 2017

Research fields within the institute network include concepts for a sustainable use and management of resources, energy and environment as well as solutions for infrastructural requirements:

The IWARU provides the knowledge of application-oriented research and development in the areas of water, environment and resources, the IuB bundles the research activities of the Münster University of Applied Sciences with regard to geotechnics, tunnel construction and transport infrastructure. The IEP conducts interdisciplinary research on regenerative power and heat generation, renewable raw materials, energy storage, energy and process optimisation of industrial production processes as well as resource and material flow management.

19 Professors, more than 80 scientific and non-scientific staff members as well as about 60 student assistants are working in mostly application-oriented research projects. Closely linked to these activities is the promotion of young scientists by fostering research cooperation with universities that are entitled to award doctorates. Currently, 15 ongoing doctorates are being supervised, six have already been successfully completed in the recent past.

Working together under the shared umbrella of the institute network strengthens the ability to deal with common issues beyond the boundaries of the various departments. Inter- and multidisciplinary approaches and complementary competences offer additional solutions for regional, national and international research projects.
