Prof. Dr. Jan Makurat has been appointed to Münster University of Applied Science as professor and researcher in the field of Humanitarian Aid and Nutrition in Crisis Situations starting in the summer semester of 2023.
His research interest is on nutrition and food security at international level.
Makurat had joined the team of the Centre of Competence for Humanitarian Aid in 2020 as a junior professor.
He completed his doctorate in the field of oecotrophology at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen with a study on the nutrition situation of Cambodian female textile workers. He worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Nutritional Science in Gießen for five years, a large part of which he spent in Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand for research purposes.
