As part of your studies, you are required to write independent scientific papers, and you can help determine the topics. This can be done either by choosing an advertised topic for a Bachelor's thesis, project paper or Master's thesis, or by submitting your own topics to the lecturers according to your interests. At the IBL, Prof. Dr. Thilo Harth and Prof. Dr. Marc Krüger in Technology Didactics are available to help you with these tasks.
Since many topics at the IBL are also interdisciplinary, we have combined them in a Research Lab. On ILIAS you will find the topics bundled in Research Clusters. Each Research Cluster is presented as well as open research and development questions. Sometimes there is the possibility to view Bachelor's theses, project paper or Master's theses that have already been completed as well as to read publications of the IBL. It is not mandatory to take up a research and development question directly, because it is also possible to pursue own ideas in a Research Cluster or to modify topics.
The advantages of the research clusters are the narrowing down of topics, the identification of methods, and the focus on current research and development issues. The supervisors, sometimes from other departments or the WWU, are also already known and there is the possibility to experience research work as a process and not as a seemingly single event. In addition, there is great interest in your results as they are useful as a contribution to the further development of vocational education. You will also receive support in scientific work in the ILIAS course Research Know-how.
