Out and about in Münster/Steinfurt

You can get around Münster and Steinfurt on foot, by bus, car or bike. All FH Münster sites and the main destinations in Münster, Steinfurt and Münsterland are served by a number of bus lines. As the "Bicycle Capital", Münster is ideal for cycling. Rental bikes can be hired from various sites around the city.

Discovering Münster

The Westphalian city with around 300,000 inhabitants, including 50,000 students at eight HEIs, is a lively and dynamic city. In addition to many restaurants and bars, Münster also has numerous theatres, cinemas and museums, including the Picasso MuseumMühlenhof Open-Air Museum and the LWL-Museum of Natural History with its Planetarium. A local recreation area around the Aasee is ideal for jogging, boating and walking.

Lots of sights, large festivals, cultural events, the annual Christmas Market and the "Send", Münsterland region's largest funfair, attract a great many visitors. Münster was the first city of its size to be awarded the title of the World's Most Liveable City, and is regularly voted the bicycle capital of Germany.

Discovering Steinfurt

Embedded in Münsterland park landscape, the tranquil district town of Steinfurt of around 34,000 now presents itself as a business location with many medium-sized enterprises. Münster and Steinfurt are just 33 minutes apart by train. Walking through Steinfurt, passing the magnificent water castle, the historic Old Town and the Bagno forest park housing Europe's oldest concert hall, you can experience almost 1,200 years of European town history.

The surrounding Münsterland region offers lots of attractions, sights and destinations such as windmills, museums and water castles for you to visit in your free time.

Internet access

Eating at the canteen

The Studierendenwerk Münster offers reasonably priced meals at facilities at virtually all sites, and elsewhere in Münster. The options include breakfast, lunch and even dinner in some places.

University libraries

The University Library of FH Münster offers a wide range of media (printed literature, journals, reference works and recorded media) to all those interested. The University Library departments are located at several sites, for example the Fachhochschulzentrum (FHZ), Leonardo Campus in Münster and Steinfurt Campus.

University Sports
