Why study CALA in English?

Studierende vor einem Laptop

Many students of our Latin American partner universities are highly interested in taking the German-Latin American Business Administration degree programme (CALA) in Germany. However, for many of them, the German language is an obstacle. For this reason, we offer our students from the partner universities the opportunity to study CALA entirely in English.

Requirements

English level: B2

In addition to meeting curricular requirements that have been agreed upon in cooperation agreements between our Latin American partner universities and FH Münster University of Applied Sciences, prospective CALA students must demonstrate their English language skills at a level of B2. This is equivalent to a score of 80 points in the TOEFL (IBT) test. Proof of English language proficiency must be sent from reputable and internationally recognised institutions to FH Münster University of Applied Sciences together with the application documents.

Course sequence and double degree

2 semesters in Münster
1 placement semester

After completing your required semesters at your home university in Latin America (4-6), you spend three semesters in Germany - two semesters at FH Münster University of Applied Sciences and one placement semester in a company. This company should be located in Europe. However, there is also the possibility to complete your placement semester in other regions of the world. After graduation, you are awarded a double degree - a Bachelor of Arts from FH Münster University of Applied Sciences as well as the degree you receive from your home university.

European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)

1 ECTS = 30 hours workload
Study in Germany: 90 ECTS

In Germany and Europe, students learn in modules which are weighted according to European credits - or ECTS. 1 ECTS is equivalent to a workload of approximately 30 hours. There are modules worth 6 ECTS (intermediate modules) and modules worth 12 ECTS (specialization modules). After successful completion of your three semesters, you will receive 90 ECTS, 30 of them for the work placement.

Your studies at your home university are worth 120 ECTS.

The entire CALA study programme at both higher education institutions therefore totals 210 ECTS in Münster.
