The development of creative competence

Creative competence to design means nowadays: Being able to identify and analyse problems, developing the right solution ideas from the consequences, presenting them and refining them after a critical evaluation as well as bringing it in collaboration with others to a successful close. These are the requirements for every independently, responsibly and critically thinking designer who knows how to assert him- or herself in the occupational routine. This is what the bachelor's programme coaches the students for.


Creative teamwork and multidisciplinary projects

These days design deals less and less with solving single tasks. Communication concepts and product development, e.g. print products, illustrations, web design, fair construction or product design, are increasingly understood as interrelated tasks. Besides designers of course there are many other experts involved. Therefore, design deals with intelligent creative teamwork as well as individual competition.

Hence, designers have to broaden their minds beyond their own creative field of experience. The bachelor's programme contributes to this with practice-oriented projects, which the MSD implements in collaboration with external partners in economy and society.

Also beneficial for extending the own perspective: the project-based course of studies. By realistic or experimental project topics design ideas are derived from problem analyses. The work team discusses them and brings them into a concept or a feasible version.
