What are examination regulations?
The examination regulations form the legal framework for the studies. The examination regulations regulate the admission requirements, the modules to be completed, the practical phase, the thesis and the colloquium. Every student should be familiar with the examination regulations relevant to his/her course of study and should observe the regulations of change. The examination regulations are published in the official announcements and are bundled on the homepage of the department.
What is a module manual?
All module descriptions of a study programme are summarised in the module manual. The module description provides information about the scope of a module (workload in hours), the teaching forms, the qualification goals and contents, the admission requirements, the usability and the examination forms of the module.
What is a study plan?
The study plan shows the chronological sequence of the modules and gives an overview of which module should be taken in which semester. The study plan provides information on how many semester hours per week (SWS) a module has lectures (V), exercises (Ü), seminars (S) and practical tutorials (P). In addition, you can see how many credit points (CP) are credited to the course of study for the successfully completed module.
What do elective courses mean?
In addition to compulsory subjects, so-called elective subjects are also offered in the study programmes. In the case of these, only a self-made selection has to be taken.
The curricula list suitable electives for each semester.
However, the choice of subjects and the time at which a subject is completed is optional. Only recommendations can be given here.
In total, for example, 150 CP must be acquired in a Bachelor's programme by means of compulsory and elective subjects.
In addition, the practical phase and Bachelor's thesis add 30 CP.
Some of these courses may lead to capacity bottlenecks and are therefore included in the curriculum with the addition "depending on the subject area".
When do practical tutorials take place?
As a rule, practical tutorials do not start before a lecture. In the lectures, lecturers usually give important information about the organisation of the internship in question beforehand.
Where do practical tutorials take place?
Practical tutorials take place in laboratories or workshops. The exact location can be found in the timetable and/or will be communicated to you in time by the professors.
What if I can't come to a practical tutorial?
In this case, you must contact your professor or one of his assistants and make an effort to catch up, as the practical tutorials are part of the exam admission.
However, the catch-up opportunities are limited, so that it is only possible to catch up on one or two attempts.
Why do I have to register for practical tutorials first and then register?

Practical tutorial groups with certain maximum sizes are set up for the practical tutorials. These vary from year to year and depending on the field of study. In order to be able to plan the number of internship groups accurately, you must register in good time (via the LSF system)!
For first semester students, registration takes place during the first semester introduction.

At the beginning of the semester, you will then have to register in a list of practical tutorial groups. This ensures that you and your team partner (team is the smallest unit in the practical tutorial) can complete the practical tutorials at the same time. This is not possible via LSF.

Where and how do I register for exams?
In most study programmes, registration for the examinations takes place online via the LSF system at Münster University of Applied Sciences.
If this is not possible, you can register personally in the examination lists available at the dean's office or by fax at: +49 2551 - 962 - 201.
After registering by fax, you must call the dean's office the next day and ask whether the fax was sent correctly.
Registration by e-mail is not possible!
When can I register for exams?
Registration deadlines usually start three weeks before the exam block and run for 10 days. Please note the respective deadlines.
If you miss your registration, you will not be able to take the exam until the next semester. The exact dates can be found on the page of the department under "Schwarzes Brett". If there is anything in between, it is possible to cancel your registration up to one week before the exam.
When do the exams take place?
Examinations are written every semester. There is a pre- and night date. The pre-event date follows directly after the lecture time, the night date is at the end of the semester break before the next semester begins.
Winter semester: VT - beginning to middle of February, NT - middle to end of March
Summer semester: VT - beginning to middle of July; NT - middle to end of September
Are there any aids for exam preparation?
The exercises during the semester serve as exam preparation.
In some cases (especially in the summer semester) there are special tutorials before the exam block that give further assistance.
Sometimes the professors themselves give help in the last lecture hours before the exam.
In which subjects are exams written?
Basically in all subjects! However, not every exam is written in the semester in which you take the subject for the first time. If it is a subject that covers all semesters, the exam takes place at the end of the entire lecture period of this subject.
When are semester breaks?
Semester breaks take place between the pre- and night dates of the examinations.
Where can I find scripts, exercise sheets and internship materials?
You can usually find documents about the studies on the pages of the respective professors. (Scripts, exercise sheets)
Practical tutorial documents are usually published separately on the respective laboratory pages.
If this is not the case, a polite request will help or it is a subject in which you are allowed to write your own notes.
Is there a bulletin board for announcements?
Yes, once directly behind room D145 (for the physicists) or online.
Where can I find the timetable/practical tutorial plan/ retreat plan?
These also hang behind the D145; the enclosure plan of course only at the appropriate time. These plans can also be viewed daily at the link below.
What is a tutorial and where is the difference to an exercise?
In a tutorial the exercises of the professors are often discussed with a student of a higher semester or an assistant of the professor. Tutorials are an additional offer for students who are not required to attend. If you don't need help, you don't have to come. Exercises are often held by the professor himself; these are units in which the learned material is applied on the basis of concrete tasks. Here, too, attendance is not compulsory, but advisable.
Are there student jobs at the FH?
Yes, but these are quickly awarded and are often only intended for students in higher semesters. In most cases the professors or assistants approach you with an offer in the lecture or exercise, there is an announcement on the bulletin board or you qualify as a tutor for the following year by good exam grades. In addition to working with/for professors, there is also the opportunity to work in the DVZ. If there is no offer or announcement, you can also ask politely if there is a vacancy.
