The research project essentially comprised the conception and development of a mobile system for the measurement and analysis of spinal movements and postures, e.g. at the workplace. The development of this system was described in advance as innovative, since there were previously no comparable systems which

  • mobile capture everyday movements by applying on the back,
  • do not cause any movement impairments,
  • insensitive to temperature fluctuations and humidity,
  • inform the user acoustically or haptically about movement and posture errors,
  • can be used simply and inexpensively,
  • function without radiation and health hazards,
  • can be put on by the patient himself,
  • additionally validated with an imaging method and
  • allows statements about the entire course of the spine (in sections).

With the development of the "MoVe", a contribution was to be made to more flexible, cheaper and above all more easily practicable movement and posture analysis.

The following figure shows an exemplary measurement of a test person rotating his upper body while sitting in order to adjust a box. This movement task was chosen to reflect a typical working movement of a packer/logistician in the industry. The curves of all recorded movement components are shown here. Thus, for example, the accompanying lateral flexion becomes clear.

The development was carried out in cooperation with Orthopädie Technik und Sanitätshaus Helmut Haas and vebitosolution GmbH. Even after the successful completion of the funding project in December 2017, research and development will continue to be driven forward in order to obtain a valid, market-ready product.
