Doctoral Scholarship of the Equal Opportunities Officer

Since 2010, the central Equal Opportunities Officer at FH Münster has been awarding doctoral scholarships to women. The aim of this scholarship award is to strengthen equal opportunities in Germany through targeted and individual support for talented female academics and to increase the proportion of women in science and research.

State-funded doctoral scholarships

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research supports doctoral candidates via 13 organisations for the promotion of gifted students that award doctoral scholarships. The various organisations for the promotion of talented students reflect the diversity of German society and represent different world views and political and social affiliations. The amount of funding is determined by the ministry's funding guidelines. Doctoral students can receive a scholarship of up to €1450, while family allowances and health insurance contributions are also possible.

In addition to above-average academic performance, the funding organisations also value social commitment. Funding includes both financial support and so-called non-material support, consisting of an accompanying programme with content-related events, network meetings and educational trips.

In addition to the funding, it is possible to work either up to a quarter-time position in research and teaching or up to five hours outside of research and teaching.

The document "Staatlich geförderte Promotionsstipendien" ("State-funded doctoral scholarships") provides an overview of the 13 scholarship organisations.
