Short bio

Kerstin Kurzhals is a junior professor for Science-to-Society - Innovation, Engagement und Co-Creation at the Münster School of Business (MSB). Affiliated with the Science-to-Business Marketing Research Centre at Münster University of Applied Sciences in Germany, she researches, lectures and conducts research and industry projects at the intersection of innovation, entrepreneurship and marketing. As head of the research line Science-to-Society and project leader of the Teilvorhaben "Science Marketing" in the "münster.land.leben" project her research interest lies in developing new ways to improve the cooperation between academia, business and society (by developing a S2S toolbox and an University-Society-Cooperation ecosystem).

Before being part of the MSB, she worked for five years as a consultant for noventum consulting GmbH (an international IT management consultancy) in the area of innovation and change management and gained experiences in different industries such as finance, IT suppliers and automotive. Besides conducting consultancy projects, her responsibilities lied in the development and establishment of a new business and consulting field Corporate Culture Concepts (CCC) - organisational consulting for Culture Change Management. Prior work experience further includes the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics, the Institute for Management of Innovation and Technology at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Proximity Consulting a consulting group of BBDO Germany, as well as Siemens-Business-Services GmbH and Audi AG.

In 2015, Kerstin successfully completed her PhD, entitled "Resource Recombination in Firms from a Dynamic Capability Perspective", at Coventry University Business School in UK, investigating the role and effect of Dynamic Capabilities for innovation generation in firms.

In her role of educator, Kerstin lectures in the field of innovation management and strategic marketing at the MUAS, courses such as "Innovation Management for SME", "Innovative and Digital Business Models" or "Quantitative Research Methods". She also coordinates international industry projects executed by students in MSB. Kerstin has a proven track record in acquiring third-party money with more than 650.000€ being acquired by her (as leading proposal manager).

As a researcher her interests include university-society interactions, responsible research and innovation, collaborative innovation, co-creation, knowledge and technology transfer, design thinking, partnership and network management, entrepreneurial thinking and acting, digitalisation and business model generation.

Her research, teaching, and consultancy activities cover a wide range of topics in the fields of innovation management, product development, R&D and strategic management, thereby she convincingly interconnects the latest findings from research and practice. Numerous publications, participation and organisation of international workshops and conferences as well as review activities complete her profile.
