As part of the Case Studies International Sustainability & Ethics course from the International Marketing Specialisation Module, Claudia Umanzor invited guest speaker Natalia Tobón to present Kimberly-Clark's program "Toilets Change Lives".

Natalia has been part of the renowned multinational for over 14 years, starting as Brand Manager in Honduras and now as Marketing Manager in KC's headquarters in Bogotá for Intimate Care in the Latinamerican region.

The "Toilets Change Lives" program was established in 2014 and has ever since brought sanitation services, access to clean drinking water, and hygiene education in partnership with its customers and NGOs to several countries such as Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Nicaragua, Peru, Honduras, Guatemala and South Africa. This has been possible thanks to strategic partnerships between their well-known brands and global NGOs like "Water for People" and "WaterAid"; bringing awareness to the global sanitation crisis that affects an estimated 2,3 billion people around the world.

Natalia Tobón, shared with us some insights about a new customer service approach, one that focuses not only on developing new products but also one that focuses on consumers' concerns, by satisfying that demand through corporate social responsibility programs that meet sustainability and ethical goals. Consequently, Kimberly-Clark's the "Toilet Change Lives" social impact program was recognized as one of the industry leaders at the 2019 Ethical Corporation Responsible Business Awards and also the Community Impact and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Impact Award.

Claudia Umanzor is a strong believer that the CSI course provides students with a unique opportunity to hear and learn from real life experts, whose day-to-day tasks are a vivid testimony of the positive impact that sustainable and ethical measures have among industry, government, academic and societal stakeholders.
