20 July 2022 | Münster

The HTSF PhD workshop provides an excellent opportunity for early-stage PhD students to present their work and receive constructive feedback from peers and seasoned researchers active in their line of research.

The PhD workshop will be held on November 9th, 2022, one day before the 27th edition of the High-Tech Small Firm (HTSF) conference, which FH Münster University of Applied Science will host in Münster, Germany, from the 10th to 11th of November 2022.

The PhD workshop will have two major components:

  1. Panel discussion: will focus on PhD graduate career trajectories and will be held under the theme of "Life after a PhD". The panel will bring together a mix of young and experienced PhDs within and outside academia to reflect on their career journeys after PhD.
  2. Paper presentation: each PhD student will be given 15 minutes for presentation and 25 minutes for discussion.

Application Procedure

Each PhD student is required to hand in a research note as part of their application for the PhD workshop (maximum. 1,500 words excluding references) until Aug 31, 2022 (to be sent to: htsf-s2b-submissionfh-muensterde).

Research notes could either be tailored to the overall design of the PhD journey or a particular research article:

  • PhD-focused submission: for PhD students who want to take a bird's eye view and focus on the bigger picture of their PhD trajectory. For instance, the structure of their PhD, the fit/misfit of the different papers planned, and the overarching aim and contribution of the PhD dissertation.
  • Article-focused submission: for PhD students who want to focus on a particular research article that is at an early stage of development. If applicants have a paper at an advanced stage of development or completed, they are advised to submit it to the conference.

We look forward to receiving your submissions!
