Eva Sormani, team member of the S2BMRC, was awarded the title of "Doctor of Philosophy, with all the rights, privileges and duties that go with it".

Eva - who is passionate about communication on the crossroads of science and market - did a master's program in Science, Business & Innovation at VU University Amsterdam. The field of innovation is especially appealing to her because innovation is for a major part defined by human behavior. For this reason, she takes a behavioral research perspective when looking at the knowledge transfer process between science and society.

In addition to her PhD, Eva was assigned to research projects at our research institute, she was part in our BMBF project "Münster.Land.Leben" and was the project manager of the Erasmus+ project "Value & Future", she is also lecturing courses in Marketing, Innovation, and research methodology.

Furthermore, Eva's project proposal "How we advance the Third Mission with gentle 'nudging'" was chosen by the Stifterverband as one of the 100th best ideas in Germany.

The public defence took place on Thursday noon in the Aula of the Vrjie Universiteit Amsterdam and got also streamed on YouTube.

The title of her PhD Thesis is:

Academics' Impetus to Engage with Society

A Study on Motivation and Regulation

She wrote her PhD Thesis with her Supervisors Prof. Dr. Peter van der Sijde, from the Vrjie Universiteit Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Prof. Dr. habil. Thomas Baaken from the FH Münster University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and Acting Prof. Dr. Sue Rossano Rivero from the FH Münster University of Applied Sciences (Germany).

She was awarded the academic title in a cooperative PhD procedure of the faculty of SBI (Science Business & Innovation) at VU and MSB (Münster School of Business), FH Münster.

Eva has chosen her best friends Timothy Wareman and Steven van Beek as Para nymphs for her defense.

After the public part at the university, friends and family toasted Eva's excellent achievement.

Eva has already been working in Delft as a Business Development Manager in The TIM Company since August, but she is still part of the S2BMRS team with a reduced position.

Gefeliciteerd Dr. Sormani met uw uitstekende prestatie! - Congratulations Dr. Sormani for your excellent achievement!
