Dr. Sue Rossano-Rivero (Acting Professor) presented her research on "Academic Entrepreneurship and Fostering Women's Entrepreneurship at Universities" during the Mexican Science Day, within the framework of the Berlin Science Week 2023 (1-10 November).
The event, held at the Embassy of Mexico in Berlin, brought together a diverse group of scientists, researchers, and representatives from Germany and Mexico, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Colegio de México (COLMEX), the Technological Institute of Monterrey, the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (BHT-Berlin) and distinguished German institutions such as the German Research Foundation (DFG).
The objective was to discuss and explore avenues for strengthening the collaborative ties between Mexico and Germany in the realm of science and technology. This year, the event focused on innovation agendas ranging from science to start-ups, robotics in medicine and future alternatives in the humanities.

Key themes addressed by Rossano-Rivero underscored the necessity of presenting a more inclusive narrative on academic entrepreneurship at universities. She emphasized the importance of University-Business Cooperation and advocated moving beyond traditional channels such as patents and licenses for knowledge transfer, aiming to create a broader space for various disciplines to exchange and transfer knowledge to society.
Additionally, Rossano-Rivero detailed current and future research projects undertaken with her research group at the Science-to-Business Marketing Research Centre at FH Münster, in collaboration with REACH. These projects, focused on fostering women's entrepreneurship at universities, featured Europe-wide projects like WeRin - Women Entrepreneurs in Inclusive Entrepreneurial Ecosystems and German projects like WE.Lead - Women Entrepreneurs Empowered to Lead. The presentation hinted at potential future research collaborations with Mexico in this domain.
The overarching goal of the Mexican Science Day was to stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue within the scientific, academic, and student community. Furthermore, it sought to inform attendees about the progress of ongoing projects with relevance to the general public. This event serves as a testament to the continuous efforts in promoting international collaboration and innovation in the scientific community.
