In the last couple of months, students from the FH Münster embarked on an exciting project with the CiE Gateway initiative, the Erasmus+ project Cooperation in Education Knowledge Gateway. This initiative aims to support universities in better preparing their students for the dynamic and challenging world of work by equipping academic staff with tools and resources to design and implement educational practices through multidisciplinary and external collaboration.
Under the supervision of Maynara Furquim and Dominik Lappenküper, part of the CiE Gateway team at S2B, various research- and project-related activities were conducted. The students started off by exploring and understanding the key concepts about Multidisciplinary Collaboration in Higher Education within and across universities, and podcast strategies for educational content.
After that, they analysed 30+ interviews with cooperation-in-education experts from various European countries, previously collected by the CiE Gateway partners. Their analysis determined patterns and deducted insights on collaborations in education, such as innovative practices, barriers and improvement areas, and short- and long-term results.
Alongside, the students prepared and analysed a quantitative survey targeting students at higher education institutions internationally. The aim was understand students' perception, demands, challenges, and benefits regarding collaborative projects. In total, over 200 responses were collected from students from 35+ nationalities studying in over 10 different countries. Surprisingly, 49% of the students who took part in the survey have never participated in any type of cooperation in education.
Based on all their research, they derived actionable recommendations for the upcoming "Cooperation in Education Podcast Series", with podcast topics, templates for scripts, show notes, and posts, podcast schedule, and dissemination strategy.
On Thursday, June 13th, the students had the incredible opportunity to present their research and ideas to the CiE Gateway consortium. This presentation was the culmination of their dedicated work, where one master student and three bachelor students delved into the world of educational collaboration. We thank Nouha Dohri, Flora Terra Corrêa, Inés Calderón Laso and Sandra Milena León Caceres for their commitment and outstanding work on this project.
Both our students and the CiE Gateway project gained valuable insights and practical outcomes. Our students enhanced their research and time management skills, learned the importance of collaboration, had their eyes opened to the job world, and contributed to a project with real-world impact:
"Thanks to this project, we got a great opportunity to dive into the ups and downs of a real-life project. This experience has allowed us to grow both professionally and personally and get a better grasp of how the business world works."
Meanwhile, the CiE Gateway team received well-researched recommendations that will shape the podcast series, ensuring its success and relevance:
"We thank the students for their great work! It was way more detailed and enriching than expected. Their efforts will pave the way for our "Cooperation in Education Podcast Series" to be successful and inspire audiences across Europe in the coming months."
Stay tuned for more updates on the CiE Gateway project and the official launch of the "Cooperation in Education Podcast Series".
