Last semester, a semester project called Change Lab 3.0 was developed as part of the Change Lab project funded by FH Münster University of Applied Sciences and carried out under the direction of Judith Helmer, research associate at the S2BMRC. Change Lab began as an initiative to investigate the impact of research on social and environmental change. By working with communities, opening up science and creating community projects, goes beyond the traditional boundaries of universities to bring about effective change in society.

The S2B goes Italy: CoCreAid Project conducts final successful Transnational Meeting

The CoCreAid project reaches its final stage with all project partners meeting in Italy for the fifth transnational project meeting to successfully close the collaboration. Rural Entrepreneurship in Münsterland: impact, opportunities, and challenges

On the 19th of October 2020, the S2BMRC organised a rural consultation workshop in Hafenkäserei, Münster. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss the economic and societal challenges of Münsterland, especially under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and identify opportunities to reboot and revitalise rural entrepreneurship. The workshop was organised in the context of a larger European project "Advancing Rural Development through Entrepreneurship Education for Adults" (ARDENT) co-financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union in which the FH Münster is the project lead.

The first issue of "Spanning boundaries" magazine is officially out. The magazine is one of the key outputs of the "Spanning Boundaries Development Project", which is funded through the European Commission's Knowledge Alliance program.

In 2017, Neele Petzold received the Award of Excellence for the best Master Thesis of Münster School of Business. Consequently, she started her PhD - after experiencing the business world in the marketing department of a large corporation.
Stormy times and the corona crisis - how to remain capable of acting

Carina Alfert presented the first results of a large-scale study on the gastronomy industry during the Corona crisis at the HGK Future Day in Ahaus.
Hotel and gastronomy businesses from all over Germany have been guests at the Tobit Campus in Ahaus to discuss the future of the gastronomy industry.
In June and July Carina Alfert conducted a study with Alexander Schmidt (S2BMRC, FH Münster) and Rainer Harms (University of Twente) on business model innovation of the gastronomy businesses in Münster and the surrounding Münsterland area. The preliminary results show that many businesses have made changes and in some cases even really "rethought" the way of doing business.

Every year, since 2016 the MSB has taken huge pride in offering students a unique learning opportunity through the International Summer School, led by PhD (c) Claudia Umanzor who like in its past two editions, made sure to deliver a non-precedent summer school.
"When lockdown shook us and tore our plans into bits, the immediate decision to go for a 100% online course was taken due to the commitment to our local and international students. We felt we owed it to them, especially to those who had already expressed their interest in taking part," says Claudia, who decided to take a risky approach by offering the same experience, via online streaming.

Nothing is as important as your own health. Especially in times of Corona, we all have this in mind again. But what is more valuable than your own health? Our children's health. What do parents do when their world suddenly comes to a standstill when their children are seriously ill? Everything is organized around it: In the centre is that the child gets the best medical care. Often parents travel from other cities to Münster with their sick children and do not know where they should stay overnight. For such situations, the Pelikanhaus - a temporary home - is about to be built at the Clemens Hospital, offering parents uncomplicated accommodation, even for a longer time.

Balzhan joined the research Centre in 2015 for perusing an internship and writing her Master Thesis for Technical University of Dresden - supervised by Prof. Dr. Thomas Baaken - on the subject "Wissenstransfer in einem interkulturellen Team" (in German Language). Coming from Almaty in Kazakhstan she attend the Kazak German University to achieve the bachelor degree in International Relations.

"In the beginning we started with 3 people, then gradually grew until we now have over 30 employees from 13 countries. On the way we had two relocations and many international projects. María is developing her PhD in the field of University Business-Cooperation (UBC). The main objective of her PhD is to explore UBC's black box by identifying and analysing its determining factors from an SME perspective. This is the reason why she has chosen and was invited by S2BMRC. The Center has vast experience in UBC related research and consulting since many years and conducted several studies in the field, e.g. for the European Commission.
María is a visiting researcher in the program of Erasmus+ "Academic Mobility" for 3 months (2 in spring 2020 and 1 in autumn 2020).
Having graduated in Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering at Mondragon University (a Mondragon Corporation cooperative located in northern Spain), Maria stayed on to focus her studies on Innovation through the development of a Master's degree (MA) in Business Innovation and Project Management.

Digital Marketing: Master students from IMS developed a strategy for S2B Marketing Research Centre

In the project the master students founded an university agency to support the S2B Marketing Research Centre with digital marketing. Led and lectured by Fatih Enzian, an expert in digital marketing, those students created social media channels, such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, connected to a newsletter and Google advertisement, and performed content marketing. Through the project, the students were encouraged to engage in practical marketing content.

HafenCity: as non-conventional learning space

As part of the semester project on Innovation Districts, Master students from the International Marketing and Sales program visited HafenCity, a visible example of place-based development in what used to be the old harbour of Hamburg by the Elbe river. Moving the City: Students developed mobile space concepts for Münster's city centre

Repairing the bicycle, feeding the dog, including shopping, borrowing umbrellas - such a service station is missing in Münster's city centre. To build on an unused area on Roggenmarkt was the idea of students in the Master International Marketing and Sales at the Münster School of Business and students with a focus on architecture at Gulf University Bahrain. The mobile space concept "Wonderwall" was the winning one among other four in the project "Moving the City", an international project conceived and led by Carsten Schröder and Prof. Dr Thorsten Kliewe.
