In winter semester 2018/2019 the bachelor students of our new lecture "Digital and Innovative Business Models" in Strategic and International Marketing learned about recent digital developments and technologies. They applied this knowledge to set up their own business model ideas referring to these stimuli such as blockchain or artificial intelligence.

The group visited the Tobit Labs together with students of "Tools & Methods" to get an impression of the latest available digital business models there. Tobit offers a variety of software solutions and digital business model concepts for its customers.

The students experienced cashless payment systems, smart home devices, 3D-printing labs or the virtual reality deck there. At the end of the semester Dr. Kerstin Kurzhals and Dr. Christian Junker discussed the results and business model pitches of the student teams, e.g. about a secure land registration system based on blockchain technology or a peer-to-peer energy market platform with private energy suppliers and private consumers.

Students stated the course to be a great experience for them - in terms of practicing digital competencies as well as trend scouting, international teamwork and persuasiveness.
