Any public office that has an official seal can carry out attestations. These include authorities, notaries and churches organised under public law.
Attestations from the following offices will not be accepted (even if they do have a seal): solicitors, clubs, insurance companies, health insurance companies, auditors, accountants, banks and savings banks.
The official attestation must contain at least the following:
- a remark confirming that the copy corresponds to the original (attestation clause)
- the signature of the person certifying the copy
- it must also bear the official seal; a simple stamp will not suffice.
