When you graduate from our degree programme, you will be a highly qualified expert. During your apprenticeship, you will gain the manual skills that continue to be important, even in the information age. At university, you will simultaneously develop the skills required to take on managerial responsibilities as a civil engineer.

After completing the programme, various occupational fields will be open to you, depending on your specialisation.

• Water and Waste Management will qualify you to work in waste water purification and the planning of waterways recycling processes.
• Transport will prepare you for professional issues concerning all aspects of infrastructure: from road traffic and rail transport to airport planning.
• In Construction Management, you will address the tasks required in implementing a building project on-site – from planning and coordinating a building site to settling accounts.
• After completing Structural Engineering, you will be qualified to work in structural analysis and to undertake ultimate strength analysis.

Do you want to undertake further qualifications after completing your Bachelor’s degree? Our department offers a number of postgraduate degree programmes, such as Master’s programmes in Civil Engineering and Building Law.

The study programme takes four years (eight semesters) and is divided into three sections. In the Civil Engineering PLUS variant of the degree programme, you can extend your programme with a practical semester.

You will focus on your company based-training in the first year. Depending on your chosen occupation, you will also attend a vocational college in addition to working. During the first year, you will be able to attend preparatory courses, which will make the transition to university study easier. Courses are held on twelve Saturdays.

You will begin studying introductory courses at Münster University of Applied Sciences at the start of the winter semester of your second year. You will begin your in-depth studies in the third year. You will be able to choose from four specialisations: Structural Engineering, Transport, Construction Management, and Water and Waste Management. You will complete your company based-training at the end of this year.

The final stage of your programme begins in the fourth year. You will complete the degree programme at the end of the eighth semester, after writing your Bachelor thesis.

In the Civil Engineering PLUS variant of the degree programme, you will extend your programme by a ninth practical semester, enabling you to gain more practical experience.

Before each year starts, you will receive a detailed plan of the content and scope of your periods of mandatory attendance at Münster University of Applied Sciences. The examination sessions are two weeks before and two weeks after the first day of term.

By taking our dual study programme in Civil Engineering, you will gain two qualifications in the short space of just four years. This dual qualification will enhance your career prospects, particularly within your apprenticing company. In addition, you will be able to finance your degree. This is governed by our supplementary scheme, which guarantees remuneration from your apprenticing company, even after you have completed the apprenticeship.
