|Proof of a subject-related practical activity (pre-study internship) of at least eight weeks duration.
The pre-study internship is intended to familiarize students with relevant work techniques and with issues of company organization and workflow.
Relevant training and professional activities related to the course of study will be credited towards the pre-study internship.
The pre-study internship must be completed prior to enrolling in the program and proof of completion must be submitted at the time of enrollment. Any missing periods of the pre-study internship must be made up for at the earliest possible time. As a rule, the corresponding proof must be submitted by the beginning of the lecture period of the third semester.
|Additional entrance requirements
Applicants who did not acquire their study qualification at a German-speaking institution must demonstrate that they have knowledge of German at level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL), for example by proving that they have passed the TestDaF (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache) with an average score of ‘4’, or must furnish equivalent proof.

Detailed description of the degree programme
Entrepreneurial success requires integrated management. Especially in technically oriented companies, managers should not only act economically, they must also have an understanding of the core business. Our industrial engineering degree program with a specialization in building services engineering will provide you with the necessary interdisciplinary knowledge.
As an industrial engineer in building services engineering, you will know how to solve a technical problem and also score points with knowledge from business administration. You will later work in a more communicative way: for example in marketing, controlling or management. You will be the interface between engineers and business economists, translating each other’s technical language, for example. In this way, you optimize and design efficient processes, change the big picture and pave the way for a more sustainable future.

Content and course of study
Your studies are a symbiosis of business and technology. The economic building blocks are provided by the Institute of Technical Business Administration (ITB) and our EGU department is responsible for the engineering building blocks. From the very beginning, both lines are closely interlinked.
The degree program is divided into three sections.
In the first two semesters, you will acquire the necessary fundamentals of natural sciences and engineering together with students from the Energy Engineering and Environmental Engineering programs. And together with other industrial engineering students, you will acquire basic knowledge of economics.
Starting in the third semester, you will deepen your knowledge in the field of building services engineering and economic topics. You will get to know the individual technical trades, analyze, calculate and evaluate them. In doing so, you will follow the approach of a comprehensive, integral planning methodology.
This includes technical modules such as heating, ventilation, cooling and sanitary engineering, building automation, control engineering, gas engineering, or smart building engineering.
You will learn how to plan and design building services systems in the modules Integrated Planning, Building Automation Planning, Building Energy Technology, or Energy Building Assessment.
But also, economic modules such as marketing, business management, financing & controlling or special economic in-depth modules are on the program.
