Detailed description of the degree programme

Long-term business success requires integrated management. In technically oriented companies in particular, executives should therefore not only think and act with an eye to business – they should also have an understanding of their company’s core business. Our Bachelor programme in Business Management in Technology focusing on Electrical Engineering will equip you with the necessary cross-divisional knowledge.

Objectives

Our degree programme combines business thinking with technical expertise. You will gain a sound knowledge of economics and engineering sciences, obtaining a combined qualification sought out by both business and industry. After completing your degree, you will be able to integrate multiple sectors: you will build bridges between the disciplines and establish valuable connections – not only in terms of content, but also between the different teams in the company.

Occupational fields

Technically experienced specialists who also know how to assess interrelations across diverse areas are in high demand in the job market. As an industrial engineer, you will correspond exactly to this requirement profile. Your career prospects – and salary – will be better than average. Typical occupational fields include technical sales, product management, and production planning.

Content and course sequence

Our bachelor′s programme is structured according to the modular principle: Different modules give you freedom in planning your academic career. In terms of content, the course combines two lines of study. The economic modules are provided by the Institute of Business Administration and Engineering (ITB), the engineering modules are the responsibility of our department. Both lines are closely interlinked from the very beginning.

In the first semesters, you will deal with basic engineering subjects such as Mathematics and Physics as well as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Electronics. You will also acquire basic knowledge in the areas of Business Administration and Controlling. In the third semester, two modules specially designed for industrial engineers are added. In the Quality Management module you will learn how to test and guarantee the quality of a product. The Technical Writing module provides skills that enable you to create technical documentation, manuals and applications for economic support.

In the fourth and fifth semesters, the proportion of economics modules increases. Through technical and non-technical electives you can sharpen your professional profile individually. You will learn how to apply your knowledge in business games, communication training and project management exercises. In this way, you will develop important skills for your later professional life already during your studies.
