(1) The prerequisite for admission or for continuation of studies is an entrance qualification for studies at universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife) or an equivalent recognised qualification, and proof of practical experience (work placement) of at least thirteen weeks' duration.
(2) The intention of the work placement is to familiarise students with relevant specialist work techniques and issues regarding company organisation and procedures in a specialist company in the construction industry. At least six weeks of this work placement must be spent on building sites (in the field of masonry or reinforced concrete construction). Relevant apprenticeships and employment can be transferred to the work placement. The Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering decides on the approval of such transfers.
(3) The work placement must be carried out prior to embarking on the degree programme, and must be proven during enrolment. In exceptional cases, students may be admitted to the degree even if the whole stipulated work placement period cannot yet be proven. The remaining time must be made up for as soon as possible; as a rule, suitable proof must be presented by the time lectures begin in the third subject-related semester.
