Why gendering?

Gender equity: It promotes gender equality and contributes to the creation of a more just society where no one is disadvantaged because of their gender. The use of gender-equitable language that includes all genders avoids discrimination. Exclusive masculine naming, for example, can exclude people of other genders or make them invisible. Gender-equitable language expresses the idea of gender equality and supports efforts to achieve an equitable distribution of rights, opportunities and resources. It promotes democratic communication in which all genders are represented and included.
Inclusion & Representation: Gender-responsive language promotes the inclusion of all genders and enables better representation of the diversity of our society. It helps to recognise and respect gender diversity.
Dismantling stereotypes: The use of gender-equitable language supports the dismantling of gender stereotypes. It helps to break down stereotypical gender roles and expands the idea of gender beyond the traditional binary category. Gender-sensitive language makes it clear that people of all genders are equally suited and capable for different activities.
