Requirements and enrollment

Admissions restrictions No local entrance restrictions
Pre-study placementProof of a subject-related practical activity (pre-study internship) of at least eight weeks' duration.

The pre-study internship should familiarise the student with relevant work techniques and with questions of company organisation and workflow. Relevant training and professional activities are credited towards the pre-study internship. The pre-study internship must always be completed before commencing the degree programme and proof of this must be provided at the time of enrolment. Missing periods of the pre-study internship (maximum 4 weeks) must be made up for at the earliest possible time; the corresponding proof must be submitted by the beginning of the lecture period of the third semester at the latest.
Additional entrance requirements

For the admission or continuation of studies in the Bachelor`s degree programme International Engineering - Environmental Engineering at Münster University of Applied Sciences, proof must be provided:

  • Knowledge of Spanish at level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, to be proven at the time of enrolment.
  • Knowledge of Spanish at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, to be proven at the latest at the beginning of participation in the modules Español para ingenieros I and II.

Applicants who have not acquired their study qualification at a German-speaking institution must provide evidence of German language skills at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), e.g. via the test "German as a Foreign Language" (TestDaF) with a score of at least "3" for the areas "Listening Comprehension", "Reading Comprehension", "Oral Expression" and "Written Expression", or via equivalent evidence.

Detailed description of the degree programme

Why do wind turbines have three rotor blades? And did you know that the output of a hydroelectric plant drops during floods?  Who ensures that too much or too little electricity is never fed into the grid? And how does a heat pump work?
Important questions you will learn to answer in the Bachelor of International Engineering - Energy Engineering.

Until the electricity from a wind turbine drives the washing machine or a heat pump warms the home, engineers specializing in energy technology face many challenges and questions. Here, everything focuses on the secure supply of electricity, gas and heat - conventional and regenerative. As a graduate of our International Engineering - Energy Engineering degree program, you actively shape our future – at home and abroad.

Since internationality is not easy to learn, you will live it during your studies. You will study abroad for a total of one and a half years at our partner university in Colombia. After all, for a career in international engineering, you need not only specialist knowledge but also a great deal of intercultural competence.

Occupational fields

The employers are as diverse as the tasks of engineers for energy engineering. Through your international studies, for example, you will work in various companies as an interface between two countries and support them with your engineering knowledge. Large industrial companies, environmental engineering offices or cities and municipalities are looking for engineers who are technically versed and can also assess issues in larger contexts. With your Bachelor´s degree, you fit this profile exactly.

Goals

As an engineer in international engineering in the field of energy technology, you do not work on individual products, but develop and optimize the systems in which technology interacts. You plan, develop, organize, monitor, look after customers and prepare offers. In this way, you change the big picture and pave the way for a more sustainable future. In addition to technical know-how, you will acquire intercultural competence and expand your language skills. Our degree program combines engineering sciences with internationality, so the world is open to you after graduation.

Contents and course of studies

Basic studies

You will spend the first four semesters at Münster University of Applied Sciences. In the third and fourth semesters you will take a language course. In addition, you will get to know the culture of the country of the partner university within voluntary events.

Studies abroad

During your last three semesters you will study at the partner university UPB in Colombia. Here you will study in Spanish. On site, you choose either mechanical engineering or electrical engineering and take courses suitable for energy engineering. In addition, a practical phase abroad is planned before you finally write your thesis.

Upon successful completion, you will receive the B.Eng. degree from Münster University of Applied Sciences and the degree from the partner university.

Why to choose this course
