How can you find an internship position abroad?

The job search is your responsibility. It is helpful to be clear about why you want to tackle the project internship abroad. This involves asking yourself a few questions: what areas of work do I want to learn about? Which specific employers are I interested in? Which skills do I want to acquire? How much time will I need to reach these goals?
Personal contacts can be helpful, but it is also advisable to research about professional associations, employment agencies and practices in the respective host country.

You already know, where you want to spend your internship abroad? Excellent! Additionally, it is advisable to inform yourself on these topics as well:

An internship abroad is not necessarily expensive. Travel, accommodation, food, insurance, possibly costs for a visa and vaccinations - these are costs that should not be forgotten.

The good news: Depending on the host country and the duration of the internship, scholarship providers offer different funding opportunities. Please inform yourself early and thoroughly:

For example on ERASMUS+ as a possibility to fund internships in Europe and on PROMOS, a scholarship program specifically for countries outside of Europe.

We regularly offer events to inform about the topic - and we advise you gladly during the office hours in a personal meeting. Please read through the basic information on the topic first:

Inform yourself at an early stage which language skills are necessary for your planned stay. If necessary, you can use the time to improve your language proficiency before your stay abroad.
For example, take a language course!
You can also join our language tandem "Meet2Speak".
Additionally, we offer intercultural training workshops and the informational event 'Basics for studying abroad' via PLUSPUNKT.

Don't forget: Take care of your visa and the necessary insurances in time! Find out whether you need certain vaccinations and what the security situation in the destination country looks like.

If you are staying in Germany with a residence permit, please inform yourself before your semester abroad at the Foreigners' Registration Office about legal regulations for long-term stays abroad.

The "New Kibbutz" program offers students from Germany internships in high-tech start-ups in Israel. Since January 2021, the DAAD has been a partner of the program and supports the exchange through scholarships.

" The name "New Kibbutz" refers to Israel's amazing transformation from an agrarian state to a high-tech nation. To experience Israel today, instead of going to a kibbutz as volunteers as in the past, young students can learn about Israel's innovative power in a company. Participants in the program have the chance to work in a highly innovative business location, gain practical experience in a relevant field of work, and at the same time participate in the life of a multicultural, vibrant country on the Mediterranean Sea."

Further information can be found under  https://israel.ahk.de/new-kibbutz and on theHomepage of the DAAD. There is also an explanatory video

The European Council offers internships for people with a recognized disability.
