8 January 2019 | Münster

Inspired by the TV show "Dragons Den" and developed by Prof. Dr. Kliewe, Dr. Lina Landinez and Luiza Leorato, Battling the Dragons is an annual final presentation of innovative ideas conceived by students from Münster School of Business.

In this year's edition, 16 master students of the International Marketing and Sales program worked in teams during the past semester on their business-driven innovation ideas: bhero, flimmerkiste, ClickDonAid, and Hin&Weg.

Around 180 people attended the Battle, which was held in a 5-minute pitch format, followed by questions and feedback from the jury, -the Dragons-.  This time, the dragons were: Carsten Schröder, Vice-President for Knowledge Transfer, Cooperation and Innovation, Jeannine Budelmann (CEO at Budelmann Elektronik GmbH), Frederik Rumpf (Venture Developer at KUBIKx) and Frank Decker (Founder and CEO of Leeze GmbH).

The Dragon's Award of Best Business Idea went to bhero, an app that seeks to increase blood donations. Also the audience had the chance to vote via their mobile phone for the best business idea, and to cheer for their favourite idea regarding social impact.

The event took place on the 8 January 2019 within the frame of "Durchstarten! Von der Idee zum Start-up", an event who brought founders and people interested in founding together.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Baaken contributed to the event by giving a sneak-preview of the results of the study "Münster as Start-Up Hotspot" conducted by the S2BMRC.

The event concluded successfully with a networking opportunity. Music, food and drinks were an ideal combination for bringing creative people together.
